Memorandum on trade and border coordination signed with Uzbekistan
Shared customs inspection hours at the main crossings and a joint working group on livestock and cotton shipments.
A memorandum on trade and border coordination between the Irad Special Economic Zone and Uzbekistan was signed on Monday at the offices of the Lieutenant Governor in Talas.
The memorandum commits the customs services on both sides to shared inspection hours at the main crossings near Bazar-Korgon and Tash-Kömür, and sets up a joint working group on livestock and cotton shipments. Patrols on the frontier will be coordinated by both sides.
“Our farmers and our hauliers have waited a long time for predictable crossings,” Lieutenant Governor Aidar Maksat said after the signing. “This is a practical agreement between neighbours who need each other.”
The working group will meet for the first time in Tash-Kömür in April.
