On a working visit to Sary-Bulak District on Thursday, Lieutenant Governor Aidar Maksat was informed that investment in the district's mining sector has reached US$216.6 million. Investors have indicated that about 2% of their sales will go towards district roads, schools and clinics.
Lieutenant Governor Aidar Maksat on Thursday made a working visit to Sary-Bulak District, where he toured the district's works and met local officials.
The Sary-Bulak District Administration reported to the Lieutenant Governor that investment in the district's mining sector has reached US$216.6 million. The figure covers funds pledged and already spent since 2024 across the Sary-Bulak Antimony Works, the Chatkal Chemical Smelting Complex, the Kemer Antimony Mine and the firms that supply them. All three sites are within the Irad Special Economic Zone, and the concessions under which they operate are granted through the Ministry of Natural Resources, headed by Minister Chingiz Asanov.
District head Taalaibek Imashev informed the Lieutenant Governor that investors have indicated that about 2% of their sales will be directed towards district roads, schools and clinics. The district administration intends to follow the matter closely with the investors concerned.
Mr Maksat noted the district's needs in roads and public services, familiar to anyone travelling the Chatkal road. "Investment is welcome, and what stays in the valley matters as much as what leaves it," he said.
The district's total sits within the US$2.4 billion of investment agreements reported across the Zone on 19 October. The figures presented on Thursday concern property inside the Zone only; the Chatkal Highlands beyond the Qara-Chik line, which remain under the open-pit mining moratorium, are not part of them.
