Lieutenant Governor visits the construction site of the Nurzhan Compute Park
Aidar Maksat and the Director-General of Attelkom, Samat Kasymov, inspected the first phase of a planned US$450 million data-centre hub in Nurzhan's Eastern Industrial Zone.
Lieutenant Governor Aidar Maksat on Monday visited the construction site of the Nurzhan Compute Park in the Eastern Industrial Zone of Nurzhan, Chu District. He was accompanied by the Director-General of Attelkom, Samat Kasymov.
The park is planned as a hub for cloud computing and artificial-intelligence services. The project is estimated at about US$450 million over several phases. The first phase, of about US$110 million, is designed for 40 megawatts of load, rising to 150 megawatts as later phases are built. About 300 permanent jobs are expected once the park is in operation.
Power will be supplied from natural gas through the Nurzhan central heat and power plant, with grid electricity from the Toktogul hydropower complex as back-up. Attelkom is designing fibre links from the park to the Attelkom Data Center in Talas and to the national network alongside the halls themselves.
“This is the ISEZ keeping pace with the region,” the Lieutenant Governor said at the site. “Our neighbours in Kazakhstan are building data centres at speed. We intend that Iradi data and Iradi computing power are kept at home, and that the jobs and the investment stay in Nurzhan.”
Further information on equipment suppliers and on the gas, water and grid connections will be released as each phase is contracted. Construction of the first phase continues.
