Executive Directive 2026/31 sets at least IS 41 million for school textbooks
A four-year printing programme for 2027–2030, expert review of every new title and a code on each copy showing the school and pupil it was issued to.
Executive Directive 2026/31, published in the official gazette, sets aside at least IS 41 million to print textbooks for the zone's public schools over the next four years.
The Ministry of Education is to prepare a printing programme for 2027 to 2030 and submit it with next year's budget. A commission will review the curriculum and the books now in use; every new title must pass an expert review before copies are ordered, and authors and manuscripts will be chosen by competition.
Each copy will carry a QR code identifying the district, school, class and pupil it is issued to. “On paper we print enough copies, and still the schools tell us they are short,” said Dinara Seitkulova, head of the department's curriculum section, who will chair the commission. “Once a book has an address, we will know whether the problem is printing, delivery or something else.”
About 400,000 pupils attend ISEZ public schools.
